The Singing Tree

We have one mission:

To grow your confidence from the roots up — with the mindset, mechanics, and methods that are designed to tranform speech therapy sessions through music.

“Alas for those that never sing, but die with all their music in them!”

Oliver Wendall Holmes (Sr.)

Have you ever wanted to sing in a session — but the words caught in your throat?
Do you feel that spark of creativity inside you… but worry that your singing isn’t great.

You’re a thoughtful, skilled SLT who cares deeply about helping your clients in any way you can, and you know that music would add so much but where to start?

Maybe you sing in a choir or hum along to your car radio after a long day.
But in your clinical work? That side of you stays hidden.

What if it didn’t have to?

What if you could use singing with confidence — not as a gimmick, but as a grounded, evidence-informed tool to spark language, connection, and joy?

What if your sessions could feel more like you again — imaginative, expressive, and alive with purpose?

Welcome to The SLT Singing Tree — a community of like-minded SLTs where your musical self and your therapist self can finally grow together.

Who are we and how can we help?

Mindset: This aspect of the work is all about freeing yourself and your client from psychological blocks to using music freely during session times.

Mechanics: Learn the vocal and musical foundations—breath support, safe vocal technique, rhythm, and placement—that make music work therapeutically.

Method: Step-by-step frameworks rooted in evidence-based music therapy, so your sessions become more engaging, more effective, and more fun—for you and your clients.

How it works

1. Explore the Roots
Start with a short self-paced module on mindset, voice, and music-speech science

2. Climb the Trunk

Build your foundation: breath, breath-vowel coordination, and rhythm tools and understand how they intertwine

  1.

  2. Branch Out
Dive into techniques like Melodic Intonation, SOVT, MUSTIM, timed singing, and more.

  3. Harvest the Fruits
Discover practical outcomes—initiation, articulation, confidence, fluency, coordination—supported by case examples and resources.

  4.

Who it’s for

  • SLTs who want to feature music in their therapy... but feel unsure

  • Those working in neuro-rehab, stroke, aphasia, voice and cognition

  • SLTs who are eager to reignite creativity and bring joy back to sessions

Now, officially working alongside Excel SLT Ltd. Private Speech and Language Therapy for Adults | Excel SLT Limited We, at TIV, absolutely love working with SLTs and weaving the disciplines together in creative ways that are backed by research.

We are constantly developing ways of combining the modalities so as to have the maximum impact on clients who are facing challenges associated with speech and language difficulties.

You might not feel 100% confident about singing and music making if it hasn't been a major part of your training. It may seem a bit daunting to introduce some musical elements, even though you recognise that there are many incredible gains to be had through this accessible medium.

Thank you it has got me thinking in a different way for my next sessions :)
